Dr. Marnell is board-certified in Addiction Medicine by the American Board of Preventative Medicine and General Psychiatry by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology. She completed her residency training at The University of Chicago and fellowship training in Addiction Psychiatry at the University of Texas Southwestern. She is passionate about expanding addiction graduate medical education, recently developing an Addiction Medicine Fellowship Program at her institution where she currently serves as the Program Director. Furthermore, she broadened the core general psychiatry curriculum to include extensive addiction training, yielding addiction-competent graduates. She is a fierce advocate for ensuring widespread MOUD access to all persons in her community and created the first community-based harm reduction program in Chatham County. She has served in multiple leadership roles including the Board of Trustees for the Georgia Psychiatric Physicians Association, Medical Director of Addiction Treatment Services for Magnolia/Gateway Community Service Board, and has a faculty appointment in the Department of Psychiatry, Mercer University School of Medicine.
She lives in beloved Savannah, GA with her husband, two daughters, and senior retired-racing greyhound, Samson.
